APPARENTLY I NEED A TITLE
The video above is a demonstration of the spin off project of the now web-famous BigDog. Taking the place of BigDog is the aptly named LittleDog, an autonomously moving quadrupedal robot. The video demonstrates it's ability to navigate through, not just flat and simple terrain, but complex obstacles.
Wow. That was awesome. It's hard to actually wrap your head around how perfect animal-like movement is with the LittleDog. I can't say that this wasn't the case when BigDog made its' astonishing debut, but being able to fit everything required to process the immense load of data required for fluent movement is a marvel of engineering. LittleDog also displays the ability to distinguish between stable footing and unstable footing, and even if it were to slip, the little terminator has the ability to get his ass right back up. LittleDog also features the ability to navigate unknown terrain and unforeseen obstacles, identifying what to do just by analyzing data received from it's feet. I'm not sure about you, but I still slam my foot into the same corner every morning, regardless of what data my feet give me.
I'd like to make a quick anecdote on how quickly robots are not just matching humanoid ability, but surpassing it.
Be afraid.
